UK court rejects Julian Assange’s bid to postpone US extradition hearing

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has failed to delay further hearings in a bid to avoid extradition to the United States.

A United Kingdom court has rejected Mr Assange’s lawyers’ application for the case to be adjourned until January after last minute allegations from the United States.

If convicted, the charges, which include the new allegations of conspiring to hack government computers and espionage, could lead to a maximum sentence of 175 years behind bars.

Extradition hearings originally set to begin in February were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
