Trump visits Wisconsin city damaged by ‘domestic terror’ protests

President Donald Trump has visited Kenosha to assess the damage from violent protests, sparked by the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Mr Blake was shot several times by police during an altercation on August 23.

Mr Trump defied a request from the state’s governor to stay away over fears the visit would spark further unrest.

“We’re here for you all the way,” Mr Trump said.
“I came today to thank law enforcement, what they’ve done has been incredible.”

During a roundtable, the President announced $1 million in additional support for the city’s police force.
He then criticised the fake news media, saying it is responsible for fuelling the violence.

President Trump described the riots as domestic terror and said the situation would have been very different if he didn’t send in the National Guards to restore law and order.
