US President Donald Trump is calling for he and rival Democrat Joe Biden to take drug tests before the two candidates go head-to-head in the first presidential debate next month.
Mr Trump made the call in an Oval Office Interview – pointing out Mr Biden’s performance improved in the primary debate against Senator Bernie Sanders in March and someone told him the former vice president “must be on drugs” but admitted he didn’t know if it was true.
“I don’t know how he could have been so incompetent in his debate performances and then all of a sudden be okay against Bernie,” Mr Trump told the Washington Examiner.
“We’re calling for a drug test.
“Somebody said to me ‘he must be on drugs’. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’m asking for a drug test. Both candidates. Me, too. I take an aspirin a day.”
Mr Trump, who compared the debate to a gladiator match fought with “our brain and our mouth”, said he did not know if drug tests would be allowed.
