Singapore has raised its outbreak alert level to the second-highest level after three new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed, bringing its case total to 33 as of February 7, 2020. The latest people with the virus had no links to others who were ill and no history of recent travel to mainland China, indicating that there is now community spread of the novel coronavirus in the city state. The outbreak alert escalation sparked a shopping frenzy, as residents stocked up on items such as preserved food and disinfectant.
