Prince Andrew in acrimonious dispute with US prosecutors over sex offender investigation

Published on June 9, 2020 by

Prince Andrew is embroiled in an increasingly acrimonious dispute with US prosecutors who are investigating the crimes of the late Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who was found dead in his prison cell in the United States last year.

The prince, whose friendship with Epstein has been the source of major controversy, insists that he has offered to help the investigation. However the US authorities have accused him of falsely portraying himself as willing to cooperate and challenged him to prove his offer is serious.

The prince stood down from royal duties last year following an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight programme in which he said he did not regret his friendship with Epstein.
