Residents in Western Australia’s north are being told to prepare for a possible category 3 cyclone crossing the coast on Saturday.

Wind gusts in excess of 200km/h would be expected with the cyclone expected to make landfall between Port Hedland and Exmouth as early as Saturday.

Residents are encouraged to prepare now and ensure emergency kits are ready.

It would be the third and most severe storm to impact Australia so far this season.
