Libya’s Deputy Defence minister says government troops have taken control of Tarhuna.
That is the last stronghold of renegade military commander Khalifa Haftar in northwest Libya – about 65 kilometres from the capital, Tripoli.
On Thursday, the UN-recognised government announced that it had regained full control of Tripoli.
Haftar’s forces still hold large swaths of territory in the east and south of the country.
