Fire crews race to contain spread as more high winds forecast

Three massive wildfires burned through parched Northern California landscape as firefighters raced to contain the blazes ahead of a weather system packing high winds and more of the lightning that initially sparked the fires.

The LNU Lightning Complex Fire burning across five counties and over 341,000 acres has grown into the second-largest in state history.

More than 60,000 people were forced to evacuate from their homes in Santa Cruz County, California, authorities said, as the wildfires continued to spread.
