The Dutch government is backing Australia launching a push to hold Russia accountable for the downing of Malaysia Airlines passenger flight MH17.

Almost 300 people including 38 Australians were killed in the incident over eastern Ukraine six years ago.

The Netherlands’ Foreign Minister has confirmed Russia is being taken to the European Court of Human Rights for its alleged role in the crash.

Moscow has repeatedly denied involvement.
