Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif held a meeting with Diplomatic adviser to the French Government
Emmanuel Bonne in Tehran on Wednesday, to reportedly discuss matters related to Iran’s nuclear programme.
According to reports, Bonne’s trip is aimed at convincing Iran to cut back on the uranium enrichment program and go back into compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal.
Bonne’s visit takes place as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) summoned an emergency meeting on the matter, due to take place in Vienna on Wednesday.
Tensions have been escalating after Iran announced in May it was partially withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plane of Action (JCPOA) also known as the Iran nuclear deal, after the US unilaterally left the deal in 2018, imposing new sanctions on Iran.
