Arrival of 200 prisoners of war at Sanaa international airport

These flights touching down at Sana’a International Airport could signal a major step forward in efforts aimed at ending a nearly-5-year war in Yemen. On Thursday, nearly 130 Ansarullah movement prisoners arrived in Sana’a after they were released by Saudi Arabia.

The International Committee of the Red Cross transported the detainees from Saudi Arabia to Yemen.

The Ansarullah members were given a hero’s welcome at the airport by crowds of people including their relatives.

Riyadh says the prisoner release is aimed at paving the way for a larger prisoner swap agreed upon in Sweden last year.
