13 August: Flights suspended for second day over protests at airport

Flights have been suspended at Hong Kong’s international airport, the airport authority said on Tuesday, citing disruptions caused by anti-government protests.

Tuesday’s suspension comes a day after a pro-democracy protest brought the air transport hub to a standstill.

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam says weeks of anti-government protests are damaging the rule of law.

She told reporters the city is “seriously wounded” and warned that Hong Kong will take a long time to recover from the demonstrations.
